Almost one week has passed since the surgery and we’re doing pretty well. The Fed Ex truck pulled up this morning with the delivery of the new harness and Toby ran/loped out to the truck barking and wagging his tail! Yeah – another visitor. Haven’t tried it on yet but I think it will come in handy for trips in & out of the car, rough terrain, etc.
Sleeping and enjoying being home with his Mommy… This has been good for me too. Regardless of how this turns out, I will always remember this time. Lot’s of cuddling and kissing – WOW, we’re even more crazy about each other than before – if that’s possible.
So how did the FedEx guy react when he saw a 3-legged dog hopping towards him? Did he do a double-take? ha! ha! Glad to hear that Toby is doing so well already…
Wow Tina! I had no idea you had this going on. I am so glad Toby came through with flying colors! He has many more happy years with you and Buck ahead of him now. What a lucky dog to have such great parents!
Dr. Portie is the best, isn’t he? When you said the part in a past post about “betting 2 of his 3 kids” I thought of him….that is before you revealed the docs name. Sounded jsut like something he would say.
He has helped tons with our dogs and was especially kind during a hard time when our 14 yr. old yellow Lab mix was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her upper shoulder/spine. He helped keep Caroline pain free until the time came to say goodbye. Such a compassionate man and great vet. Take care and hope to see you soon!
The harness is awesome for front amputees. I have found that it helps with walking with the leash-I don’t feel like we are pulling on her incision site, and since there’s less there at the neck, it just seems to work better.
Caira Sue loves to see the fedex man, the mailman, the pizza delivery man…anytime the doorbell rings she’s running over-hardly a hop now!
Enjoy every day. Make sure to write it down. It’s so nice to go back and see just how far you’ve come!
